You Can’t Teach Height
We each come with certain
advantages by birth, both
innate and those environmentally
manifested. Yet, how we use
our hidden and revealed talents
is perhaps at the core of the mystery
that envelops our life. Height alone
cannot predict mastery as witnessed
by the six-foot three-inch volleyball
player tripping over her own shoelaces.
You and I must do extraordinary deeds
to reach even beyond the heights we seek.
Our task is no less than to let go of the
stumbling feet that have tripped us up
too often. Fallen to the ground groping
for a solid perch, these eyes have tried to keep
on looking up and up. This has been the root
of our downfall. We need only to forget
all of what we think we know and let ourselves
arise; arise to even far past where our eyes see.
In letting go, effortlessly, height becomes us.
As an Ecstatic Poet, my aim is to awaken in you, the part of you that knows the truth of your being, the beauty of your soul.
