Is it possible that what is going in the US and around the world is that everyone has been captured and enraptured by their own shadow psyche? Consider what our entire world would be like if you, me and each person were aware of when we were thinking, talking or acting from shadow?
What is this shadow? None other than the summation of everything you and I try to hide, repress or deny. If I don’t know why my first guttural instinct to something is to react as if my very life depended upon my striking the first blow, whether verbally or physically, then we are stuck in a reptilian way of thinking, operating from the shadow that says react at all cost to protect me, for I may die if you do not.
What is our alternative? We must now dive into the deep recesses of both our psyche and our bodies to search out—as if we are hunting buried treasure, for we are—where the pain is that will cause us to lash out, to see difference where there is no difference.
How can we quantify each other by skin color, sexual orientation, gender or religious persuasion? We each bleed the same red blood, breathe the same breath as did Jesus, Mohammed, Moses, Krishna, Buddha, Quan Yin, Mary, Shiva or Parvati.
Is it possible to move beyond whatever happened to us as children, to leap light years beyond the messages we received all our life, that leave us trembling in the dark, ready to strike at anyone if the wrong word is said?
The answer is YES! The more I know about what I have hidden, denied or repressed all my life, the better the odds are that I can engage with you, even if we disagree. It is time to lay down every one of our burdens by doing the work to bring everything in us that is not love into the shining light of a new day.
No longer captured in shadow’s rapture, may there begin a true dialogue of one human being to another, a chance to bring salvation into a world, yet hungry for rapture, knowing in each heart that rapture is just the fantasy of yet further escape. Only in claiming both the darkness of our own shadow AND the innate golden qualities of ourselves, will you and I create a truly enlightened world of human possibility.
To borrow a quote from a harrowing moment, “let’s do this!”.
