the night's sleep from the sky.
My hands are firmly on the wheel,
when up ahead in the distance,
my eyes light upon familiar orange
and white striped construction barriers,
blocking the way forward. Immediately,
I begin to scan the scene on the
road's horizon. As I draw closer.
I see no detours, so plodding on
I go. My thoughts turn sharply
to all the times I have seen real
or imagined obstacles standing
strong along my path, only to
find the mistake of mirage has
again ensnared me in her lingering
grasp. Here I am, again at the
precipice, momentarily locked
in indecision's cage. As my eyes
adust to the burgeoning light
of morning, I see that all barriers
have evaporated, only another illusory
obstacle steadfast in its existence.
With faith renewed, I steady my foot
upon the accelerator, and press on.
