“Time is a trick, a sleight of hand,
a vast illusion in which figures come
and go, as if by magic…
~Lesson 158 A Course in Miracles
I find myself once more,
immersed knee deep in
the illusory myth of time.
What happened whether five seconds,
five minutes or five years ago,
still speaks in a Jabberwock voice.
Bump, bam, boom! All things clashing
and gnashing, trying to hook me
into seeing what isn’t really there.
Like one who so badly wants to believe
in fairy tales, I fall for the trickster’s
craft and believe again, in the sleight of hand
and all the tricks of the trade known
to be used by this wily happiness thief.
Only now, my larder is filled with all manner
of sustenance that will serve me well,
in my quest to vanquish the trickster
of time- revealed once and for all-
as just another vain illusionist,
selling his tired worn out wares.
