When you see the face of your brother
or sister, father or mother, or even
one of the seven billion shining lights
who dance upon this spinning green-blue
globe we call home, whom do you see?
Is it the mask you have grown accustomed
to applying, that tries to assure you in vain
that you know who they are- their false beliefs,
their lies, even their truths?
No, you realize it you who has mistakenly
glued cardboard faces to a stick that you hold
up in front of them. You look into the sudden
abyss in front of you filling, now overflowing
with these false placards falling down
all around as you let go of every single
assumption that you have allowed to prop
you up. Your knees embrace the caress
of mother earth as your hands raise in
eternal thanksgiving- to have come home
to love again.
